STARKVILLE -- The Mississippi State women's golf team will try to build on a trip to the NCAA Championships this season with a schedule that features some of the nation's premier events and the second-annual Old Waverly Bulldog Invitational.

MSU will open the season Sept. 8-10 at the Cougar Classic at the Yeamans Hall Club in Charleston, S.C. This will be MSU's sixth appearance in the College of Charleston-hosted event. Last season's event was ranked as the eighth-toughest field nationally.

MSU will make its third-straight appearance in the Mercedes Benz Women's Collegiate Championship on Sept. 20-22 at Cherokee Country Club in Knoxville, Tenn.

After hosting the first regular-season tournament last season, MSU will play host the Old Waverly Bulldog Invitational on Sept. 30-Oct. 2. at Old Waverly Golf Club in West Point.

"We are again thankful and ready to show off Old Waverly in our second-annual tournament," said MSU coach Ginger Brown-Lemm, who enters her fourth season. "It is a championship course and we are grateful Mississippi State can utilize it on a daily basis. We are continuing to grow this event into a national destination each season and this year's tournament is another step toward our goal."

To conclude the fall, MSU will play in the Betsy Rawls Invitational on Oct. 13-15 at the University of Texas Golf Course in Austin, Texas. It will only be MSU's second appearance in the event hosted by Brown-Lemm's alma mater.

For the first time since winning the event in 1999, MSU will return to the Seminole Challenge on Feb. 14-16 at Southwood Golf Club in Tallahassee, Fla.

MSU then will play in the Allstate Sugar Bowl Classic, hosted by Tulane University, on Feb. 23-25 at the English Turn Golf & Country Club in New Orleans. The Dr. Donnis Thompson Invitational on March 12-13 in Honolulu, Hawaii, follows. The Lady Bulldogs will wrap up the regular season with the Liz Murphey Invitational on April 4-6 in Athens, Ga.

The SEC Championships will be May 20-22 at Greystone Country Club in Birmingham, Ala.

Postseason play will begin May 8-10 with the NCAA Regionals, and will conclude May 20-23 with the NCAA Championships at the Tulsa Country Club in Tulsa, Okla.
