Crime Report 8/25/09

The following incidents were reported by the Columbus Police Department: 

 


  • An officer was dispatched to the 2100 block of 14th Avenue North Thursday in reference to burglary of a vehicle.  

     


    Entry was gained through an unlocked door. A Samsung cell phone was missing from the vehicle. 

     


  • An officer was dispatched to Columbus Trailers, located at 2406 Military Road, Thursday in reference to stolen property.  

     


    An 18-foot 2009 Barrentine trailer was stolen from the location. A lock was on the trailer but it had been cut.  

     


  • An officer was dispatched to the 2300 block of Walnut Avenue Thursday in reference to a burglary of a vehicle.  

     


    Entry was gained through an open window. An AM/FM cassette player was reported missing. 

     


  • A complainant went to the Columbus Police Department Thursday to report he had been attacked with a bike chain the night before.  

     


    The incident took place in the 1200 block of Fourth Street South. 

     


  • An officer was dispatched to the 1100 block of Ninth Avenue South Thursday in reference to a burglary of a home.  

     


    Entry was gained by kicking in the back door. Several items were missing from the residence. 

     


  • An officer was dispatched to Propst Park Friday in reference to vandalism of a vehicle.  

     


    The front and back windshields and the right front window of the vehicle in question had been shattered. The gear shift handle had also been broken. 

     


  • An officer was dispatched to 905 Military Road Friday in reference to a burglary of a home. 

     


    Entry was gained by kicking in the back door. Several items of jewelry were missing from the home. 

     


  • An officer was dispatched to 903 Military Road Thursday in reference to a burglary of a home.  

     


    Entry was gained by kicking in the back door. Nothing was reported missing from the home. 

     


  • An officer was attempting to make a traffic stop on 14th Avenue North Friday when the subject driving the vehicle jumped out and ran.  

     


    Several officers arrived on the scene and a perimeter was set up. The subject was apprehended in the 1600 block of 23rd Street North. The subject was taken to the Lowndes County Juvenile Detention Center. The officer was informed the juvenile had a pick-up order for being a runaway.  

     


  • An officer was dispatched to 901 11th St. S. Friday in reference to burglary of a home.  

     


    Entry was gained through the back door. A piece of jewelry and five dollars worth of change were missing from the residence. 

     


  • An officer was dispatched to the 1500 block of Eighth Street South Saturday in reference to burglary of a home.  

     


    Entry was gained by kicking in a door located under the car port. A laptop computer was reported missing from the residence. 

     


  • An officer was dispatched to 22nd Street North Saturday in reference to burglary of a vehicle.  

     


    Entry was gained by breaking out the passenger side window. A purse with an undisclosed amount of cash in it and a child''s backpack were taken from the vehicle.
