The following cases were heard in the recent Circuit Court term:
Judge Jim Kitchens:
Mondrale Averhart was charged with one count of possession of MDMA (Ecstasy) and one count of possession of cocaine. His probation was revoked and he was sentenced to serve eight years in the Mississippi Department Of Corrections (MDOC) on each charge to run concurrent.
Debra Baker pleaded guilty to possession of marijuana and was sentenced to serve three years in MDOC; one year house arrest; two years post release supervision; a $400 fine; and $250 restitution.
Robert William Beck pleaded guilty to possession of marijuana while in possession of a weapon. He was sentenced to serve six years in MDOC; one year house arrest; five years post release supervision; $500 fine; and $250 restitution.
Jonathan Bryant was charged with grand larceny. His probation was revoked and he was sentenced to serve five years in MDOC.
Dante Butler pleaded guilty to possession of cocaine and was sentenced to serve eight years in MDOC; one year house arrest; five years probation; $500 fine; and $250 restitution.
Ronald Clowers pleaded guilty to DUI-third offense and was sentenced to serve five years in MDOC; one year house arrest, to begin Aug. 26; four years probation; and a $2,000 fine.
Shirley Collins was charged with possession of cocaine. Her probation was revoked and she was sentenced to serve four years in MDOC.
Jeanette W. Diggs was charged with false pretense. The case was not prosecuted.
Tommy Dora Jr. pleaded guilty to possession of stolen property was sentenced to serve 10 years in MDOC; 10 years suspended; five years probation; and a $250 fine.
Frank Norris Doughty was charged with one count of malicious mischief and one count simple assault on a police officer. His probation was revoked and he was sentenced to five years on each charge to run concurrent.
Damien Fenton was charged with burglary of a dwelling. His probation was revoked and he was sentenced to serve five years in MDOC.
Aeron Fields pleaded guilty to burglary of a dwelling and was sentenced to serve five years in MDOC; $500 fine; and $608.75 in restitution. He was recommended for the Regimented Inmate Discipline Program (RID.) A charge of attempted burglary of a dwelling was retired to files based on his guilty plea.
Chase Fields was charged with identity theft. He was already on post release supervision and was ordered to attend and complete a sentence in a restitution center. After completion, he will be considered for a treatment program. MDOC’s restitution center program provides an alternative to incarceration for minimal risk offenders who are in need of a more structured environment. Residents serving time in a restitution center are referred to as residents. Residents who qualify for the restitution center program are required to work and pay full or partial payments to crime victims. Residents also have to pay room and board fees ($10 per day), court fees and establish a savings account. Residents are required to serve a minimum of 40 hours of community service.
Jimmy Lee Frost pleaded guilty to possession of methamphetamine precursors and was sentenced to serve 10 years in MDOC; five years post release supervision; and a $5,000 fine.
Teresa Garner pleaded guilty to false pretense and was sentenced to serve two years in MDOC; one year post release supervision; $100 fine; and $3,074 restitution.
Christopher Glenn was charged with four counts of uttering forgery. The charges were reduced to misdemeanor forgery and the case was remanded to Justice Court.
Jerome W. Grant Jr. was charged with burglary of a dwelling and was sentenced to complete the RID program followed by attending and completing a sentence in a restitution center; and $4,200 restitution. If the restitution is paid before a bed is open, he will be placed on probation.
Mark Greer was charged with aggravated assault. The charge was reduced to simple assault and the case was remanded to Justice Court.
John C. Harkins was charged with aggravated assault. The charge was reduced to misdemeanor simple assault and the case was remanded to Municipal Court.
Jack Avery Harrell pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to manufacture methamphetamine and was sentenced to serve 15 years in MDOC; five years post release supervision; and a $500 fine. He also pleaded guilty to one count of possession of pseudo-ephedrine and was sentenced as a habitual offender to serve five years in MDOC to run consecutive with his first sentence.
Eric Harris was charged with burglary of a dwelling. His post release supervision was modified and he was sentenced to serve one year in county jail.
Tujwana L. “TJ” Howery pleaded guilty to food stamp fraud and was sentenced to serve three years probation, non-adjudicated; $500 fine; and $8747 restitution. A second count of food stamp fraud was retired to the files based on her guilty plea. Non-adjudication is the process of allowing a first-time, nonviolent defendant to complete certain conditions and avoid a conviction on their record. You must not have a prior felony conviction, and you can only participate in the non-adjudication process one time. If you qualify, you will enter a guilty plea, but the judge will hold the plea in a non-adjudicated status and order you to fulfill certain conditions. These conditions can include, not committing another crime, attending classes or counseling, drug testing, community service, and paying fines and restitution. If you fail to fulfill the conditions, the judge may take you out of the program and you will have a guilty plea and a conviction on your record. If you successfully fulfill all requirements, your charges will be dismissed and your criminal record expunged.
Latonia J. Jackson pleaded guilty to possession of more than five kilos of marijuana and was sentenced to serve 30 years in MDOC; 30 years suspended; five years probation; $1,000 fine; and she agreed to testify against Mark Streater.
Travis Jackson pleaded guilty to grand larceny and was sentenced to serve two years in MDOC; five years post release supervision; $250 fine; and $2,704.75 in restitution. His sentence will run consecutive to a sentence from Monroe County.
Bianca Johnson was charged with burglary of a dwelling. The charge was reduced to simple assault and the case was remanded to Municipal Court.
Charles Kevin Johnson was charged with burglary of a dwelling. His post release supervision was revoked and he was sentenced to serve five years in MDOC.
Christopher Jones pleaded guilty to grand larceny and was sentenced to serve 10 years in MDOC; 10 years suspended; five years probation; and a $500 fine.
Vontrais Jones was charged with grand larceny. His probation was modified and he was ordered to attend and complete a sentence in a restitution center. However, if all fines and restitution are paid prior to a bed opening in a center, he will be brought back in front of the judge.
Richard Keene was charged with aggravated assault. The charge was reduced to misdemeanor simple assault and the case was remanded to Justice Court.
Rodney Lowe was charged with grand larceny. The charge was reduced to larceny and the case was remanded to Justice Court.
Joe D. Metcalf pleaded guilty to possession of methamphetamine and was sentenced to 10 years in MDOC; 10 years suspended; five years probation; $500 fine; and $7,500 restitution. A charge of possession of stolen property was retired to the files based on his guilty plea.
Robert Miller was found guilty of one count of possession of methamphetamine and one count of possession of morphine. He was sentenced to serve two months in MDOC on each charge and 46 months post release supervision. He was given credit for time served and will be transferred to Ohio.
Zachary Miller pleaded guilty to attempted burglary of a commercial building and was sentenced to five years in MDOC; five years suspended; five years probation; and a $200 fine.
Christopher Murphree pleaded guilty to fleeing from a law enforcement officer and was sentenced as a habitual offender to serve five years in MDOC; and a $1,000 fine.
Terrell Murray was charged with the sale of cocaine in 2001. The charge was dismissed due to the age of the case.
Tevin Oglen pleaded guilty to one count of armed robbery and one count of burglary of a dwelling. He was sentenced to serve 15 years on each charge to run concurrent; five years post release supervision; $200 fine; and $500 restitution.
Kevin Eugene Patterson was charged with possession of methamphetamine. His probation was modified and he was sentenced to attend and complete a sentence in a restitution center.
Justin Martin Perkins was charged with one count of arson and one count of burglary of a dwelling. The case was not prosecuted.
Ryan Perkins was charged with one count of arson and two counts of burglary of a dwelling. The case was not prosecuted.
Tobin Scott Rasco was charged with exploitation of a child. The case was not prosecuted.
Robert Rickard pleaded guilty to aggravated assault and was sentenced to five years in MDOC; five years post release supervision; $500 fine; and he is to have no contact with Karen Rickard.
Donald Sanders was charged with attempted aggravated assault. The case was not prosecuted.
Anthony Seals was charged with burglary. His probation was modified and he was sentenced to attend and complete a sentence in a restitution center.
Johnathan Spencer pleaded guilty to the unauthorized copying and sale of a DVD and was sentenced to three years in MDOC; and a $500 fine. One count of receiving stolen property and five additional counts of the unauthorized copy and sale of a DVD were retired to the files based on his guilty plea.
Richard Stanford was charged with aggravated assault. The charge was reduced to misdemeanor simple assault and the case was remanded to Justice Court.
Tywanda Taylor pleaded guilty to possession of Benzylpiperazine, a drug comparable to amphetamine and was sentenced to four years in MDOC; four years suspended; four years probation; and a $250 fine.
Tina Welch pleaded guilty to the transfer of stolen property and was sentenced to 10 years in MDOC; 10 years suspended; five years probation; a $250 fine; and $250 restitution. A charge of possession of methamphetamine was retired to the files based on her guilty plea.
Michael Wright was charged with one count of possession of a weapon by a felon and one count of burglary and larceny of a dwelling. The cases were not prosecuted.
Javorose Yarbrough pleaded guilty to burglary of a dwelling and was sentenced to six years in MDOC; five years post release supervision; $500 fine; and $608.75 restitution. A charge of attempted burglary of a dwelling was retired to the files based on his guilty plea.
Judge Lee Howard:
Julie Bailey was charged with conspiracy to manufacture methamphetamine. Her post release supervision was revoked and she was sentenced to five years in MDOC.
Stephen Bernard Brown was charged with burglary of a building. His post release supervision was revoked and he was sentenced to two years in MDOC.
Teresa Bryant was charged with identity theft. The case was not prosecuted.
Lance Burns was charged with the sale of cocaine. His post release supervision was revoked and he was sentenced to five years in MDOC.
Robert Bush was charged with burglary of a dwelling. His post release supervision was revoked and he was sentenced to five years in MDOC. A charge of possession of a weapon by a felon was not prosecuted.
Thomas Cattladge was charged with possession of cocaine. The case was not prosecuted.
Tyrone Clay was charged with possession of cocaine with the intent to sale. His post release supervision was revoked and he was sentenced to four years in MDOC.
Kimberley Ellenburg pleaded guilty to possession of methamphetamine and was sentenced to four years in MDOC; two years suspended/two years to serve; two years post release supervision; and a $1,000 fine.
Jeremy Mitchell Elmore was charged with possession of morphine. His post release supervision was revoked and he was sentenced to three years in MDOC.
David Lee Garner was charged with possession of methamphetamine precursors. The case was not prosecuted.
Joshua A. Glenn was charged with two counts of statutory rape. His post release supervision was modified and he was sentenced to one year in the Lowndes County Jail.
Darron Griffin pleaded guilty to possession of pseudo-ephedrine with the intent to sale and was sentenced to eight years in MDOC; five years suspended/three years to serve five years post release supervision; and a $1,000 fine.
Jacynda Griffin pleaded guilty to possession of stolen property and was sentenced to 10 years in MDOC; 10 years suspended; five years probation; and a $1,000 fine.
Tavarris Guyton pleaded guilty to possession of marijuana and was sentenced to eight years in MDOC; eight years suspended; five years probation; and a $1,500 fine. A charge of possession of cocaine was retired to the files based on his guilty plea.
Jerry Henley pleaded guilty to DUI-third offense and was sentenced to five years in MDOC; four years probation/one year to service; four years post release supervision; and a $2,000 fine. A charge of simple assault on a police officer was retired to the files based on his guilty plea.
Jamal D. Hicks pleaded guilty to possession of marijuana while in possession of a weapon and was sentenced to six years in MDOC; six years suspended; five years probation; and a $1,000 fine. A charge of possession of marijuana inside the jail was retired to the files based on his guilty plea.
Timothy Holmes pleaded guilty to grand larceny and was sentenced to five years probation; a $750 fine; and $1,750 restitution.
Jason Hudson was charged with aggravated assault. His post release supervision was revoked and he was sentenced to five years in MDOC.
Jackie Jennings pleaded guilty to grand larceny reduced from robbery and was sentenced as a habitual offender to 10 years in MDOC.
Terry L. Johnson was charged with two counts of possession of stolen property. The cases were not prosecuted.
Raymond M. Karr pleaded guilty to touching a child for lustful purposes and was sentenced to 10 years in MDOC; seven years suspended/three years to serve; $1,000 fine; and he must register as a sex offender.
Cathy Little was charged with aggravated assault. The case was not prosecuted.
Timothy Livingston was charged with robbery. His post release supervision was revoked and he was sentenced to five years in MDOC.
Jonathan A. Lovato was found guilty of the sale of marijuana and was sentenced to serve four months in the Lowndes County Jail; and four years probation.
Tommy Lowery pleaded guilty to two counts of grand larceny and was sentenced to 10 years in MDOC; 10 years suspended; five years probation; $1,000 fine; and $6,000 restitution.
James Earl Malone was charged with domestic violence-aggravated assault. The case was not prosecuted.
Terrell Nance was charged with burglary of a dwelling. The charge was reduced to petit larceny and the case was remanded to Municipal Court.
Mary Nelson was charged with burglary and larceny of a dwelling. The case was not prosecuted.
Ena G. Orr was charged with possession of cocaine. Her post release supervision was revoke and she was sentenced to serve 111 days in MDOC. After credit for time served, she was immediately released.
Willie Rainer pleaded guilty to burglary of a dwelling and was sentenced to 15 years in MDOC; five years suspended/10 years to serve; five years post release supervision; and $10,000 in restitution. He also pleaded guilty to a second charge of burglary of a dwelling and was sentenced to 15 years in MDOC; five years suspended/10 years to serve consecutively with the first sentence; five years post release supervision; and $14,425.28 restitution. Nine additional charges of burglary and larceny of a building were retired to the files based on his guilty pleas.
Myron Sewell pleaded guilty to armed robbery and was sentenced to 45 years in MDOC; 15 years suspended/30 years to serve; five years post release supervision; and $449.59 restitution. He also pleaded guilty to sexual battery and was sentenced to 30 years in MDOC to run concurrent with the first sentence. Charges of kidnapping and murder were retired to the files based on is guilty plea.
Christopher Devon Shelton was charged with felony child abuse. His post release supervision was revoked and he was sentenced to two years in MDOC.
Samantha Shelton pleaded guilty to possession of stolen property and was sentenced to 10 years in MDOC; 10 years suspended ; five years probation; and a $250 fine.
Alicia Lynn Smith pleaded guilty to false pretense and was sentenced to three years in MDOC; three years suspended; three years probation; and a $500 fine.
Quaylin C. Smith pleaded guilty to possession of marijuana and was sentenced to three years in MDOC; one year house arrest; two years probation; and a $1,500 fine. He also pleaded guilty to attempting to possess marijuana and was sentenced to 15 years in MDOC; two years house arrest; five years post release supervision; and a $2,000 fine. A charge of attempting to possess marijuana was retired to the files based on his guilty plea.
Martell Taylor pleaded guilty to possession of Benzylpiperazine and was sentenced to two years probation; and a $500 fine.
Tamarcus Thomas was charged with burglary of a building. The case was not prosecuted.
Lamar Williams pleaded guilty to grand larceny and was sentenced to seven years in MDOC; five years suspended/two years to serve; five years post release supervision; $500 fine; and $50 restitution.
Senta Williams pleaded guilty to the sale of cocaine and was sentenced to 13 years in MDOC; five years suspended/eight years to serve; five years post release supervision; and a $5,000 fine. Two additional charges of the sale of cocaine were retired to the files based on her guilty plea.
Shane S. Williams was charged with possession of cocaine. His post release supervision was revoked and he was sentenced to five years in MDOC.
Geman Wilson pleaded guilty to burglary of a dwelling and was sentenced to ten years in MDOC; five years suspended/five years to serve; five years post release supervision; and a $500 fine.
Judge Lee Coleman:
Ciara Calhoun pleaded guilty to felony shoplifting and was sentenced to five years probation; $600 fine; and $710 restitution.
Shuntay Clay pleaded guilty to felony shoplifting and was sentenced to 10 years in MDOC; 10 years suspended; five years probation; $1,200 fine; and $578 restitution.
Terrance Cotton pleaded guilty to possession of stolen property and was sentenced to 10 years in MDOC; 10 years suspended; five years probation; $1,200 fine; and $1,557.93 restitution.
Leshawn V. Cunning pleaded guilty to possession of cocaine and was sentenced to 20 years in MDOC; five years post release supervision; and a $1,200 fine.
Augustus Davis was charged with possession of stolen property. The case was not prosecuted.
Hiraschio Doss was charged with burglary of a building. His post release supervision was revoked and he was sentenced to seven years in MDOC.
Timothy Harris was charged with grand larceny. His probation was revoked and he was sentenced to 10 years in MDOC.
D’Anzor F. Jackson pleaded guilty to possession of cocaine and was sentenced to six years in MDOC; five years post release supervision; and $1,200 restitution. A charge of attempted robbery was retired to the files based on his guilty plea.
Jonathan Jackson was charged with aggravated assault, His probation was revoked and he was sentenced to 10 years in MDOC.
Sharnell Jackson pleaded guilty to false pretense and was sentenced to three years in MDOC; three years suspended; three years probation; $100 fine; and $1,369.12.
Sylvester N. Johnson pleaded guilty to capital murder and was sentenced to life without parole in MDOC.
French Wade Jones was charged with possession of cocaine, the sale of marijuana and possession of a firearm by a felon. The charges were not prosecuted.
Roosevelt McClinton was charged with statutory rape. The case was not prosecuted.
Demetrict Miller was charged with possession of cocaine. The charge was reduced to a misdemeanor and the case was remanded to Justice Court.
Larrie Moore Jr., was charged with possession of marijuana. The charge was reduced to a misdemeanor and the case was remanded to Justice Court.
James Pratt was charged with possession of stolen property. The charge was reduced to a misdemeanor and the case was remanded to Justice Court.
Anthony Powell was charged with possession of a weapon by a felon and possession of stolen property. The cases were not prosecuted.
John Allen Redden was charged with aggravated assault-domestic violence. His probation was revoked and he was sentenced to five years in MDOC.
Cory H. Sanders pleaded guilty to possession of marijuana with the intent to distribute and was sentenced to 10 years in MDOC; five years suspended/five years to serve; five years post release supervision; and a 1,200 fine. An additional charge of possession of marijuana with the intent to distribute was retired to the files based on his guilty plea.
Sylvia Tate pleaded guilty to possession of cocaine and was sentenced to four years in MDOC; five years post release supervision; and a $1,200 fine.
Shaquille Taylor was charged with grand larceny. His probation was modified and he was sentenced to one year in the Lowndes County Jail.
Richard Tribble was charged with grand larceny. The charge was reduced to petit larceny and he pleaded guilty and was sentenced to serve six months in the Lowndes County Jail; a $1,000 fine; and $1,650 restitution.
Bradley Woods pleaded guilty to robbery and was sentenced to four years in MDOC; five years post release supervision; and a $600 fine.
