Dr. Valentin Mihai Bogdan, assistant professor of piano at Mississippi University for Women will perform a solo piano recital on Friday, Oct. 18 at 7:30 p.m. The concert will take place in Connie Sills Kossen Auditorium in Poindexter Hall, on The W campus.
The free program will feature repertoire from various musical genres, spanning from the Baroque to the Modern periods. Originally from Romania, Bogdan is an award-winning pianist and composer who holds music degrees from Wayne State University, Michigan State University and University of Miami. He is a prize winner at international piano competitions, and he has performed recitals in the U.S., Canada, Bulgaria, Romania, France, Great Britain, the Netherlands and Jordan.
As a composer, his music was performed at various new music festivals and conferences by, among others, musicians from the Cleveland Symphony Orchestra, Duo Trivella and the Beta Collide Ensemble. Bogdan joined the MUW faculty this past summer, after previously teaching as a full-time professor at Grambling State University in Louisiana, and at Arizona Western College in Arizona.
