JACKSON -- David Parvin has asked the Mississippi Supreme Court to order him released on bail until his retrial is held in the shooting death of his wife.
A Monroe County judge denied bond for Parvin in August. Parvin appealed to the Supreme Court.
The Northeast Mississippi Daily Journal reports that Parvin argues in court papers that it is state's fault his Nov. 12 trial was delayed. He asks the Supreme Court to order the circuit court to set bail or to set the bail itself.
Parvin was indicted for murder in the shooting death of 68-year-old Joyce Parvin at the family home in 2007. Parvin argues the shooting was an accident.
He was convicted in 2011 and sentenced to life in prison, but the Supreme Court ordered a new trial.
