The downtown Columbus YMCA is hosting a health fair and open house Wednesday, from 9 a.m. to noon with bone density testing, blood pressure testing and cholesterol screening, as well as body fat analysis, blood sugar testing, vision screening and more.

Blood sugar and cholesterol testing requires fasting after midnight prior to the health fair; there is a $27 charge for cholesterol testing.

Also, the YMCA isn''t letting the rain keep it from hosting one-mile fun walks this week.

The goal is to reach 5 million steps during national America on the Move Week.

At the downtown YMCA, walks will begin at the Y Tuesday- Friday at 9 a.m. and Tuesday-Thursday at 5:30 p.m. Participants will walk inside when necessary.

Walks begin at the New Hope YMCA Tuesday and Thursday at 9 a.m.

Call the New Hope YMCA at 662-328-0212 beforehand to ensure walks will take place at the New Hope site.

A free lunch and learn session about nutrition basics also will be held at the downtown YMCA Friday from noon-1 p.m.
