Women of all ages are falling in love with one of the year’s most daring trends: short hair.
Unless you live under a rock, you have noticed stars such as Charlize Theron, Pamela Anderson, Kristin Chenoweth and Julianne Hough making the chop. It’s perhaps the best way to bid farewell to last season and greet spring with bravado.
If you are longing for short hair, may I suggest your own version of Jennifer Lawrence’s hip coif? Just recently I gave my BFF an au currant rendition of the boyish crop that has all eyes on that young Oscar winner and now on this Southern belle. Lyn is a classy woman who dances to the beat of her own drummer, always craving the chic, most modern hairstyles. So, it was just a matter of turning up the volume and taking her from good to gorgeous with record speed.
First, we cropped the hair brazenly short in the back before razoring the sides for a tousled, tucked-behind-the-ear and unconstructed vibe. Next, we punctuated the pixie by exaggerating the front fringe, sweeping it forward for a dramatic statement.
We revved up the color with an of-the-moment technique called “flamboyage,” a hand-painted method of blending warm, golden hues for a sunlit blonde like no other. Traditional highlights are on their way out this season, while we make way for fresh innovations in hair color. My heart beats faster just imagining the possibilities.
Lyn just retired, but you would never guess she is a rocking grandmother sporting this youthful, hip makeover. By playing up the eyes with bold liner, giving the pucker a pop of color, and painting the peaks of the face with shimmery bronzer, this woman of a certain age is just getting started.
Visit your stylist with a photo of Jennifer Lawrence — or Lyn — and carpe diem!
