Chesser completes exercise
Air National Guard Tech Sgt. Christopher T. Chesser helped provide free medical care to residents of rural Louisiana during exercise Cajun Care, Feb. 25 to March 6.
Approximately 120 Navy and Air National Guard medical professionals provided medical, dental and optometry care to area residents of Abbeville, La. More than 2,000 people received care, where the military was set up in a former nursing home.
A Department of Defense-sponsored program called Innovative Readiness Training, Cajun Care is designed to provide U.S. military medical professionals valuable training as well as provide health care options to a medically underserved community. The program is in its 20th year, with this year’s exercise Cajun Care providing Abbeville area residents a collective health care benefit valued at more than $1 million.
Chesser is a chaplain assistant assigned to the 186th Air Refueling Wing, Key Field, and has 13 years of military service.
Chesser is the husband of Laura A. Chesser of Cedar Bluff. He is a 1998 graduate of Starkville High School.
