WEST POINT — The West Point Board of Selectmen has authorized the hiring of four new police officers plus three new patrol vehicles and two unmarked cars for criminal investigators.
West Point Police Chief Tim Brinkley tells the Daily Times Leader the total cost for the vehicles is less than $150,000.
Brinkley says three of vehicles currently in use are 2005 Crown Victoria models, as well as a 2003 model and a 2001 model. He says maintenance expenses are increasing.
Brinkley says he hopes to have the new vehicles in about three months.
Brinkley says the cars will come fully equipped. He says the department will have to install radios.
