A Columbus teenager will be charged as an adult for his alleged role in a shooting that left one man injured.
Myron Jamison, 17, of 206 Byrnes Circle, was arrested Tuesday afternoon and charged with aggravated assault with a weapon. According to Latasha Key with the Columbus Police Department, Jamison got into a verbal altercation with a 21-year-old male Saturday near 5th Avenue South. Monday, Jamison and his friends returned to the scene and shot the man in the chest, according to police. The victim was transported to Baptist Memorial Hospital-Golden Triangle where he was treated and released.
Jamison was arrested Tuesday afternoon.
He is currently in the custody of the Lowndes County Adult Detention Center on a $15,000 bond.
In an unrelated incident, officers with the CPD responded to 1018 Shady Street Tuesday night for reports of shots fired. When officers arrived on scene, they discovered four men involved in a family feud, according to Key.
Cousins Edward Sully Jacobs, 33, of Boston, Mass., and Edward James Preston, 22, of 632 31st Avenue North, got into a verbal altercation with two men after Jacob’s nephew threw a rock at one of the men’s aunt’s house, Key said. The altercation turned physical when Preston pulled out a weapon and began shooting towards the men and into the home. Jacobs and Preston were arrested on scene and each charged with aggravated assault with a weapon. They each received a $10,000 bond. They were released from the Lowndes County Adult Detention Center Tuesday afternoon, according to jail officials.
