Oktibbeha County investigators are finding little insight into a Sunday shooting at an Oktibbeha County nightclub despite two days of canvassing for clues and interviewing potential witnesses, Oktibbeha County Sheriff’s Department Commander Brett Watson said.
No arrests have been made after gunfire in Club Rock’s parking lot left five people injured.
Although numerous people were present in the facility and near the crime scene, few witnesses have emerged with details, he said.
“It amazes me that there were so many people there, but nobody has said they heard or saw anything,” Watson said.
“That’s what makes this job so frustrating. How can you have that many people in a parking lot and nobody sees anything? Somebody should say they at least saw a vehicle leaving the scene or something,” Sheriff Steve Gladney added. “It’s aggravating. That’s why we’re asking the public for help.”
Four victims, Watson said, were treated and subsequently released from area hospitals. Another victim was still listed in critical condition at University Medical Center in Jackson, he said.
OCSD did not release the victims’ identities, but Watson said at least two were out-of-county residents.
Deputies also have not released a description of a suspect – or that they have a suspect – or a possible get-away vehicle. Investigators say they’re still working to establish a motive and timeline of events.
“We have an idea, but it’s a moving target that’s proving difficult to pin down,” Watson said.
Anyone with information on this incident or others is asked to call Oktibbeha County Sheriff’s Department at (662) 323-2421 or Golden Triangle Crime Stoppers at (800) 530-7151.
