A Starkville School District bus was rear-ended by a vehicle Thursday afternoon as the bus driver prepared to stop on Highway 12, district officials said.
The accident happened around 3:50 Thursday afternoon in front of the National Guard Armory.
Around 30 students were on the bus at the time of the accident, officials said.
Two students who were on the bus, the driver of the other vehicle, and the other vehicle''s passenger were taken to Oktibbeha County Hospital. Their condition was unknown Friday morning, but "no one was seriously injured," school officials said.
"We are so thankful that no one was seriously injured, and our students are going to be OK," said Assistant Superintedent Walter Gonsoulin, who visited the students and their parents at the hospital. "However, this accident should be a reminder to all motorists to use extra caution when you see a school bus, especially when you are following one. Drivers should always be prepared to stop for a school bus."
