BROOKSVILLE -- A Brooksville 14-year-old who tried to force his way into a 90-year-old woman''s home to rob her -- and failing at that, trying to shoot her -- was arrested by Brooksville police.

"We had a possible burglary and shooting (but) no one hurt," said Brooksville Police Chief Tina Williams.

The 14-year-old shot into the East Main Street home of the 90-year-old woman at about 7:30 p.m. Saturday while attempting to get into the house.

The juvenile, whose name was not released because of his age, is charged with attempted robbery and shooting into a dwelling.

"They never got into the dwelling," said Williams, who noted the suspect shot at the chairs where the resident was seated.

The female resident was home alone at the time.
