The Columbus-Lowndes Public Library Local History Department recently received a monetary donation from the Stephen D. Lee High School Class of 1964 Reunion Committee. The class held its 50th anniversary reunion April 4-5 in Columbus.
Archivist Mona Vance-Ali of the Local History Department said, “We are so grateful for the Lee High Class of ’64’s donation. Such donations allow the archives to continue its mission to preseve and make accessible the rich history of Lowndes County.”
“S.D. Lee High School is a very important part of the history of the Columbus that every one of its graduates knows,” said Peggy Phillips, a member of the Class of 1964. “We would love to make sure that it is not forgotten; that there are momentos, yearbooks and pictures available for people to see. Hopefully, this donaton from the class will help to make that possible.”
The Local History Department currently houses a modest collection of memorabilia from Stephen D. Lee High School, but always seeks additional donations from those who would like to have memories of their time at the school preserved.
