Lost Pizza Company is coming to Columbus.
Preston Lott, who was part of the duo that opened the first Lost Pizza Company in the Delta in 2007, confirmed to The Dispatch on Wednesday that the pizza restaurant will open a location along Highway 45 North later this year.
Lott said Will McPherson, who owns Lost Pizza Company restaurants in Memphis and Jackson, will be one of the Columbus location’s owners. McPherson could not be reached by press time today.
According to a building permit the city has issued to contractors, the restaurant will be located at 2009 Hwy. 45 N. According to the Lost Pizza Company website, however, the restaurant will be located at 2013 Hwy. 45 N. Either way, a tentative opening date is sometime in October, Lott said.
It will be the 10th Lost Pizza Company restaurant, according to the website. A Starkville location opened last year on Highway 12 in State Shopping Center. In addition to pizzas, the restaurant has appetizers, salads and wings.
Also on Highway 45 North, a new fabric store is set open.
Premier Fabrics will be located at 1217 Hwy. 45 N. — right across from Leigh Mall — in the same building that houses Susan’s Hallmark Shop.
Mark Castleberry, a local developer, owns the building. Interior renovations are ongoing, but Castleberry expects the fabric store to open this month or next.
Premier Fabrics has other locations in Tupelo, Jackson, Meridian, Germantown, Tennessee, and Raleigh, North Carolina, according to its website.
Castleberry said the Columbus store will occupy roughly 4,500 square feet on the building’s south end. Right beside it, in a 1,900 square foot spot, a new tanning salon called Golden Glow will open soon. (More on it in next week’s column.)
Roughly two weeks ago, the GT Lanes Entertainment Center on Highway 45 North unveiled its new bumper cars. There are 12 cars. Anyone over 5 years old who weighs less than 300 pounds can ride, managers said.
Over in Starkville, Barnes Crossing Auto Sales and Service opens for business today at 801 Hwy. 12 West.
Joe Marshall, who owns the used car business, said the lot will keep anywhere from 100 to 125 vehicles on site at all times. He also owns car businesses in Tupelo, Saltillo and Jackson. Combined, they have more than 400 vehicles available.
A remodel of the 14,000-square-foot building at the Starkville location is underway. The business also offers $19.95 oil changes.
Marshall said Barnes Crossing Auto Sales and Service will employ roughly 16 people initially. He expects that number to eventually reach 30.
Lastly, the Captain D’s in West Point is set to open Monday. The seafood eatery chain is located across from Mossy Oak along Highway 45 South. Construction began in spring.
