Patron tickets to the Junior Auxiliary of Columbus 2015 Charity Ball will be available to the public Thursday, Feb. 19 from 4:30-7 p.m. at the Junior Auxiliary Hut at 1000 Park Circle, adjacent to Lee Park.
The 65th annual ball is set for Saturday, March 28 at Trotter Convention Center. The event, which funds numerous service projects of the Columbus chapter of the National Association of Junior Auxiliaries, features the crowning of this year’s king and queen, presentation of the court, live music by the band Stretta of Nashville, Tennessee, and a breakfast. In addition, the evening includes a presentation of musical vignettes from past ball performances, titled “A Tribute to the Decades,” written and narrated by Ron Locke.
Tickets are $40 per person for table seating in the ballroom. Balcony tickets are $20. Tickets for the Royal Breakfast, served from 9:30-11:30 p.m., are $20.
The first annual ball fundraiser 65 years ago came at the request of the Columbus Chamber of Commerce to provide entertainment for visiting Columbus Pilgrimage guests. The event was, for most of its history, known as the Pilgrimage Ball. The name was eventually changed to Charity Ball to reflect its true purpose as a fundraiser to provide charitable services to the community.
“We are excited about the opportunity to offer a wonderful evening celebrating the service of Junior Auxiliary to the children of Lowndes County,” said Macaulay Whitaker, patrons and tickets chair. “We encourage the community to purchase tickets and join us as we raise funds for our projects for the upcoming year.”
After March 6, purchase tickets at Military Hardware in Columbus, 1002 13th St. N. For more information, contact Whitaker at 662-327-6010 or email [email protected].
To make a tax deductible donation to JA, mail checks to the attention of the treasurer, Junior Auxiliary of Columbus, P.O. Box 11, Columbus, MS 39703.
