CEDAR BLUFF — A Cedar Bluff man remains in the hospital recovering from injuries after two-car crash in Clay County.
Terry Scott White, 44, of Cedar Bluff, was traveling west on Highway 46 in Cedar Bluff just after 8 a.m. Dec. 19, when his red 1999 Mazda crossed the center line into eastbound traffic and collided head-on with a white 2006 GMC Sierra being driven by his brother-in-law, Bobby D. Gray, 50, also of Cedar Bluff, according to the Mississippi Highway Patrol. Gary”s mother, Alma Powell, 69, was a passenger in the truck.
The collision sent the three relatives to the hospital with serious injuries.
All three were transported to North Mississippi Medical Center-West Point before being transferred to larger hospitals. MHP reported all three individuals were wearing seat belts at the time of the collision.
Gray was airlifted to the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson, where he remains heavily sedated in the intensive care unit, according to Sheila Gray-Glover, Gray”s older sister. Gray suffered four breaks in his left leg, a break in his left arm, a break in his right hip and pelvic bone, ruptured colon and bruising to the brain.
Gray-Glover said her brother has undergone multiple surgeries and will go under the knife again Thursday.
“They”re trying to let him regain his strength (before surgery),” Gray-Glover said.
Gray was on his way to work when the accident occurred less than seven miles from his home, she said. Gray and White are neighbors and share a driveway.
Powell was transferred to North Mississippi Medical Center-Tupelo, where she was treated for a broken jaw and a broken right arm. She was released from the hospital Friday with her jaw wired shut.
White, who is married to Powell”s daughter, Georgette, broke his foot in the wreck and was released.
