Pedestrian struck by car

A Starkville resident who was hit by a motorist near Zachary''s Thursday night has been treated and released this morning from Baptist Memorial Hospital-Golden Triangle. 


According to information provided by Columbus Police Department Public Information Officer Terrie Songer, Willie Wilson Sr., 58, of 112 Beattie St. in Starkville, was struck by a 2002 Oldsmobile Alero driven by Robert McIntyre, 30, of 135 Pearrow Drive in Caledonia. 


According to the report, the car was turning left from Second Ave. onto Fifth Street when the driver said he felt a bump and saw someone on his windshield, which was Wilson. The light turned green, and McIntyre made the turn. 


"Wilson said he was going west on Second as the light turned green," Songer said. 


Songer said Wilson insisted against going to the hospital. An eyewitness said he was complaining of pain in his legs. 


No charges have been filed.
