The Columbus Police Department fielded 173 calls in January, as the department put emphasis on disturbance and stolen-property calls, officials said.
According to statistics provided by CPD Public Information Officer Terrie Songer, of the 173 calls the department received in January, 33 calls dealt with disturbance issues, domestic and otherwise.
The department also responded to 31 accident calls as well as 22 miscellaneous calls during the first month of 2010, and 11 calls regarding stolen property.
“We want to make sure we help the citizens in their efforts to recover stolen property. We want to make sure we step up our patrols in the areas where this occurs, especially if it happens in the daytime hours,” said Columbus Police Chief Joseph St. John.
The department also responded to four suspicious activity calls as well as four burglary calls and three trespassing activities.
“Thankfully we did not have a lot of major crimes during the first of the year. We want to make sure we do what we can as the year progresses to keep those down,” St. John said.
