The Dispatch”s advertising department brought home more than a dozen awards from the Mississippi Press Association”s Better Newspaper Contest, including first-place awards for best magazine and retail ad.
The awards were presented late January at the Association”s mid-winter conference in Jackson.
“I”m proud of our crew,” said Dispatch Publisher Birney Imes. “These awards only affirm what our advertisers frequently tell us, that we have an energetic, imaginative and service-oriented team.”
The awards included:
- Best Retail Ad, Spot or Process Color — Third Place, Jackie Taylor and Beth Proffitt, Ann”s Stationery; Second Place, Jackie Taylor & Beth Proffitt, Le Gourmet; First Place, Jackie Taylor, Anthony Minter and Beth Proffitt, Wines, Etc.
- Best Political Advertisement, Spot or Process Color — First Place, Anthony Minter and Linda Massey, Vote Charlie Box.
- Best Small Space Ad — Third Place, Anthony Minter, YMCA Basketball League; First Place, Anthony Minter and Celsie Staggers, Columbus Pet Grooming.
- Best Section or Edition Dedicated to Retail Sales Promotion — Third Place, Dispatch Advertising Staff, Home and Garden.
- Best Series of Ads — Second Place, Jackie Taylor and Beth Proffitt, Now that”s Cheesy; Third Place Adventures of Wine Man, Jackie Taylor, Beth Proffitt and Anthony Minter.
- Best Magazine Product — Second Place, Advertising Staff, FYI; First Place, Advertising Staff, Progress.
- Best Single Magazine Advertisement: Third Place, Jackie Taylor and Beth Proffitt, Eden MediSpa; Second Place, Jackie Taylor and Beth Proffitt, The Shops at Brickerton.
- Advertising Excellence Award — Third Place, The Commercial Dispatch.
