Clean Sweep Columbus, a Great American Cleanup Event, is almost here, and the LINK”d Young Professionals are searching for volunteers to help clean the Friendly City Saturday, March 20.
LINK”d Young Professionals and Keep America Beautiful are teaming up with area businesses and organizations for an all-day clean-up of Columbus and Lowndes County. By picking up litter, leaves and limbs, the group”s goal is to make Columbus shine
The event will kick off at 9 a.m. at the Hitching Lot Farmers” Market at the intersection of Second Avenue and Second Street North. Volunteers from every neighborhood and walk of life are needed to make Clean Sweep Columbus a success.
Volunteers are encouraged to sign-up as early as possible, to aid in mapping routes for clean-up teams. If there is an area you would like to help clean, let organizers know. Be as descriptive as possible when naming locations.
Several companies and city leaders have already volunteered their time and equipment, but more is needed.
Clean Sweep is seeking donations of gloves, rakes, shovels, trash bags, flowers, mulch, gravel and water.
Lunch will be provided for all volunteers.
LINK”d Young Professionals will contact volunteers a few days before March 20 to confirm registration, assign clean-up locations and arrange pick up of supplies.
For more information or to volunteer, contact Shasta Nance at the Columbus-Lowndes Development LINK at 662-328-8369, or [email protected].
