West Point police are searching for two suspects in an alleged hotel robbery Thursday night.
Officers responded to a call about a robbery at America’s Best Value Inn on Highway 45 South Alternate at about 10 p.m., according to a press release from West Point Police Department. Two black men reportedly entered the hotel through the front door and one of them leapt over the counter and snatched the cash drawer before they fled the building, heading east on Louis O’Neal Road in a gray or silver sedan.
The hotel clerk said both suspects were wearing dark clothing and masks, the release said.
WPPD authorities are reaching out to nearby departments to determine if this is an isolated incident.
“We may be able to connect the dots between us and other departments to determine if we have a common perpetrator,” WPPD Chief Tim Brinkley said.
Brinkley also encouraged businesses to invest in surveillance cameras and other security equipment to help investigators in cases like these.
Anyone with information on Thursday’s night’s robbery is asked to call WPPD at 494-1244 or the Golden Triangle Crime Stoppers at 1-800-530-7151.
