A tree dedication ceremony in memory of four Mississippi University for Women students will be held on campus at 2 p.m. Thursday.
Rose bud trees have been planted in honor of Jamelia Brown, of Grenada; Jaslynn McGee, of Corinth; and cousins Catherine Ann Muse and Alondan Turner, both of Cordova, Ala. A hotel fire in Hoover, Ala., claimed the lives of the four freshmen back in January.
The dedication will take place in front of Kincannon Hall, where the students were residents.
Memorial markers will be placed at each tree, according to Sirena Parker, director of community living, who also noted that family members will be on hand and have a role in the ceremony.
Remarks will be made by MUW President Claudia A. Limbert and selections will be provided by United Harmony.
The ceremony is open to the public. For more information, contact Parker at 662-329-7127.
