Angie’s Catering and Floral Design, also known as Events on Fifth, plans to move to a new location Sept. 1.
This new location is the former home of Bella Interiors at 515 College St. Angie Atkins, owner of Angie’s Catering, began renovations on the building in July and plans to have the lighting entirely replaced with chandeliers and string lights soon. The entire venue is being repainted and white curtains will be hung over the windows.
The venue features a 8,500 square-foot floor plan, about four times the size of the 2,000 square-foot floor from the Fifth Street location. This larger space can be split into a reception area and ceremony hall using movable walls. The location also had two office spaces that have been converted into bridal suites.
Atkins also has converted a section in the back of the building into a kitchen, enabling her to prepare dishes for catering in house.
Atkins has been working as an event planner and caterer with the Mississippi University for Women for 22 years and independently for about 10 years.
“I don’t want to produce cookie-cutter weddings,” Atkins said regarding the customization options for the venue and her personal business philosophy. “I want to help people achieve their dream wedding, within whatever budget necessary.”
For Atkins’ full planning, catering and venue rental services, customers can reach her at 662-386-5634.
Building permits have been issued for a site on Wilkins-Wise Road and construction has begun on a new site for Mississippi Reclaimed.
Mississippi Reclaimed is a company that salvages materials from old buildings, such as the E.F. Nunn & Co. building in Shuqualak, and resells that material. The business provides customers the opportunity to reuse old, made-to-last materials in new products and supports preservation of the environment in one motion. In addition to brick and lumber, Mississippi Reclaimed salvages full doors and windows, as well as numerous one-of-a-kind items.
At this time, there is no estimated completion date for the facility on Wilkins-Wise Road. A gallery of Mississippi Reclaimed’s materials is available on the company website: mississippireclaimed.com.
