Affordable Care Act
The Graham-Cassidy proposal in the senate to repeal the Affordable Care Act seeks to transfer funding and control of health care from the federal government to individual states through “Block Grants.”
Giving our state control of health care would be an epic disaster. Our state government can’t balance a budget as it is. Just look at all the welfare for corporations in the form of tax-cuts which have bankrupted our public education, state mental health services, and many other essential state services.
And I shouldn’t fail to mention that this Block Grant funding will end after 2026, leaving Mississippians with nothing. Do you want Sen. Cochran and Sen. Wicker voting for this? I sure don’t.
