Come on, Columbus residents, and help make your city shine!

Link''d Young Professionals is teaming up with area businesses and organizations to clean up the city, before welcoming thousands of visitors for the 69th annual Columbus Pilgrimage, and they need help.

During Clean Sweep Columbus, held March 28, volunteers will walk through city neighborhoods, picking up litter, leaves, limbs and debris.

Volunteers are needed from every community and are encouraged to sign up early, so clean-up routes can be mapped.

Areas to be cleaned can be requested; volunteers are asked to be as specific as possible, when requesting locations to be cleaned.

Donations of gloves, rakes, trash bags, flowers, mulch and water also are needed.

Members of Link''d Young Professionals will contact registered volunteers a few days before the event to confirm registration, assign clean-up locations and arrange for supplies to be received.

For more information or to sign-up to participate, contact Shasta Nance at the Columbus-Lowndes Development Link at 662-328-8369 or snance@cldlink.org.

Clean Sweep Columbus begins at 9 a.m. March 28 at the Farmers'' Market in downtown Columbus.

All volunteers working with a specific organization are not required to be present at the Farmers'' Market launch, but a team leader from the group must be present to receive the necessary supplies for cleaning.

Additionally, all participating youth groups must be accompanied by an adult.
