A Madison man arrested for a Saturday assault in the Cotton District repeatedly slammed his victim's head onto the ground, according to police documents.
An affidavit The Dispatch obtained from Starkville Municipal Court says Harrison S. Browning, 21, head-butted the victim of his assault and slammed their head into the concrete multiple times.
The assault resulted in severe lacerations for the victim, as well as a broken orbital socket, contusion to the front left brain lobe, and several broken face bones, according to the affidavit.
Starkville Police Department Public Information Officer Brandon Lovelady told The Dispatch the male victim was taken to OCH Regional Medical Center and then transferred to another hospital. The victim's condition was not made available.
Police responded to the assault, which happened outside of Gringo's on University Drive, at 1:37 a.m. Saturday. The business was closed at the time of the incident.
Browning was arrested later that morning on suspicion of aggravated assault. He's been released on $10,000 bond.
Aggravated assault, according to Mississippi Code Sec. 97-3-7, is punishable by up to 20 years in prison and a $10,000 fine.
Browning is currently scheduled to appear in Starkville Municipal Court on March 19.
