A 14-year-old is in jail after his arrest on Tuesday for a suspected kidnapping.
Starkville Police Department, with assistance from the U.S. Marshals Task Force, arrested Jaquiores Boyd, of Starkville, on suspicion of two counts of kidnapping.
Police are charging Boyd as an adult because he is charged with a capital crime, which is any offense that carries up to a life sentence upon conviction.
Boyd, according to an SPD press release, held two people against their will, at gunpoint, on Monday. The incident reportedly happened at the Brooksville Garden Apartments on Everglade Avenue.
SPD Public Information Officer Brandon Lovelady said no injuries were reported, to his knowledge.
Boyd is being held in the Oktibbeha County Jail on $200,000 bond. He’s scheduled to appear in Starkville Municipal Court this afternoon if he does not post bail.
The Dispatch has submitted a public records request for an affidavit and arrest records for Boyd and will have more on this story as it develops.
