Community-wide Class of 2019 Convocation -- All Columbus and Lowndes County high school seniors from public and private schools, their families and community members are urged to attend this inspiring back-to-school program at 5:30 p.m. at Nissan Auditorium on The W campus. Everyone is encouraged to wear their school colors for the event hosted by the Columbus Lowndes Chamber of Commerce Education Committee and its education partners. Sounds of Summer finale -- A summer of free music at the Columbus Riverwalk concludes Thursday with the last Sounds of Summer concert of 2018. The Bouncing Betty band entertains from 7-9 p.m. Bring lawn chairs or blankets (no pets or coolers). Concessions will be available for purchase. Aidan Dunkelberg in concert -- Aidan Dunkelberg presents a show of original works, covers and fiddle music at 3 p.m. at the Columbus Arts Council's Rosenzweig Arts Center, 501 Main St. Advance tickets are $15 for CAC members/$17 non-members. Artesia Days -- This summer festival includes an Aug. 3 block party with entertainment, motivational speakers, dance teams and more from 6 p.m.-midnight. On Aug. 4, opening ceremony is 2 p.m., followed by a cake walk, face painting, cartoon characters, gospel music and blues that evening. Art for EB -- The third annual Art for EB from 4-7 p.m. at the Ole Homestead, the home of Rufus and Karen Ward, at 302 College St., Columbus, honors the late Gabe Valentine of Starkville and features the art of his grandparent, Lee Gibson. Golden Triangle Comic Con -- This celebration of comic, geek and pop culture begins at 10 a.m. at Trotter Convention Center in downtown Columbus with special guests, gaming, tournaments and cosplay.
