Lowndes County's annual disaster preparedness drill has been rescheduled for Sept. 18.
The drill is held every September and allows agencies and first responders from around the county and state to test communications and practice disaster planning in emergency situations. Initially scheduled for last Thursday, the drill was canceled due to weather.
The drill will still be held at Propst Park in Columbus, 2535 Main St., and Long-Term Health Care Facilities starting at 8 a.m. The drill will test the county's response to a tornado disaster with multiple casualties.
As part of the drill, all tornado sirens will activate Thursday morning.
Baptist Memorial Hospital-Golden Triangle, Mississippi University for Women, other health care facilities and other volunteer agencies will participate in the drill.
