Two men from outside Lowndes County are facing charges for a string of local burglaries last fall.
Bradley Allen Avant, 24, of Water Valley, was charged with four counts of burglary of a commercial building after being arrested by Yalobusha County Sheriff's Office investigators Monday. He and Trevis Lorenzo Smith, 18, of Ackerman, who was arrested Nov. 29, are accused of working together to break into four Lowndes County businesses while visiting a New Hope friend in October and November, according to a LCSO press release.
Smith was also charged with four counts of commercial burglary.
Avant and Smith have been connected to an Oct. 10 burglary of CML Southern Designz on New Hope Road, where they allegedly stole cash and some other small items; an Oct. 22 burglary of the New Hope Softball concession stand in the same area where they apparently took candy; a Nov. 12 burglary of Tender Loving Care on Reeves Drive where they are accused of stealing multiple items including a cell phone; and a Nov. 26 burglary of Taylor Made Cakes on New Hope Road where they allegedly took cash, an iPad and a cell phone, according to the press release.
