The Columbus-Lowndes County E-911 fielded a total of 6,781 calls in July, according to a monthly report to the E-911 board of commissioners Tuesday.
In Columbus, the police department was contacted by E-911 dispatchers 4,052 times, with incident reports filed in 544 of those cases.
The Columbus Fire Department, which was contacted 343 times, had 51 fire calls, 193 medical calls and 99 miscellaneous calls.
Columbus animal control officers were also called 29 times, and school security was called once.
In Lowndes County, dispatchers passed 1,395 calls to the Sheriff”s Department. Of those, only 328 required an incident report.
The County Fire Department took 121 medical calls, 36 fire calls and 19 miscellaneous calls, bringing the total number of calls to 176.
Lowndes County animal control was called 22 times.
Dispatchers sent a total 792 to other organizations in the area, with 665 of those calls going to Baptist Memorial Hospital-Golden Triangle, three to the Mississippi Highway Safety Patrol, 75 to the Caledonia marshal”s office, 48 to the coroner”s office and one to the Department of Wildlife, Fisheries and Parks.
There were no air evacuations or 911 calls from Mississippi University for Women.
