Three Columbus artists are among eight fine art affiliate members to be featured in the Gallery 782 Co-Art in Biloxi. Virginia Eselin, Patti Johnson and Kevin Voller will have their paintings and drawings exhibited alongside coastal artisans regularly showcased at the gallery located behind historic Mary Mahoney”s Restaurant.
An opening reception for a special exhibit welcoming the affiliate artists will be Saturday, Aug. 21, from 6-8 p.m. at 782 Water St. The public can attend and mingle with the artists.
“Gallery 782 Co-Art is proud to announce this new and exciting partnership,” says Mary Ott Davidson, a gallery member who played a key role in developing the affiliation. “Mississippi has wonderful artists, and we want to not only celebrate our local artists, but serve as a avenue for promoting professional artists and craftsmen from around the state.”
In addition to the three Columbus artists, other fine art affiliates hail from Tupelo, Canton, Jackson and Columbia. All belong to the Mississippi Craftsmen”s Guild and the Mississippi State Committee of the National Museum for Women in the Arts.
For the first time in Gallery 782 Co-Art, fine crafts, including metal sculpture, art dolls, mixed media gourds and folk art, will be displayed alongside fine art.
The new partnerships reinforce the Gulf Coast gallery”s continuing commitment to provide South Mississippi with exceptional quality art, while providing a venue for artists from around the state to reach a new audience.
