The Columbus High School football team scored 25 consecutive points in the fourth quarter Friday night to beat New Hope 39-22 at Trojan Field.
Quarterback Cedrick Jackson and running back Damian Baker led the Falcons (2-1) to a victory that earned the team bragging rights in the city of Columbus for a year. Jackson threw three touchdowns and rushed for another, while Baker rushed for 155 yards and a touchdown.
With the game tied at 14 in the third quarter, Columbus stopped New Hope on fourth-and-1 from its 20 to help turn the tide. The Falcons then went 12 plays to set up an apparent 23-yard field goal, but holder Randy Brown took the snap and beat everyone to the right corner for the go-ahead touchdown.
The floodgates opened from there, as Baker scored on a 4-yard run and Jackson threw two touchdown passes before New Hope (1-2) scored in the final minute.
