The Friends of the Columbus-Lowndes Public Library concludes its fall Table Talk series Sept. 29 with a preview of Mississippi University for Women''s upcoming "Eudora Welty Writers'' Symposium."
The noon program in the library meeting room, 314 Seventh St. N., features Dr. Tom Richardson, MUW''s Dean of Arts and Sciences, who will discuss the event which presents the works of 12 visiting authors.
"This year''s October 21-23 program features novelists, poets, short-story writers and essayists from across the South -- from the Appalachians to the Ozarks," said Richardson, who is also the Eudora Welty Professor of English at MUW.
The theme of the 2010 symposium, "Never Think You''ve Seen the Last of Anything: Of Optimists and Other Endangered Species," is inspired by Eudora Welty''s Pulitzer Prize winning novel "The Optimist''s Daughter."
Doors open at 11:30 a.m. for those wishing to bring their lunch and socialize before the program begins at noon. The Friends will serve iced tea.
