Southern Belle Cotton Pickin' 100 this weekend

The seventh annual Southern Belle Cotton Pickin'' 100 will come to life today and Saturday at Magnolia Motor Speedway. 

 

The 2010 Southern Belle Cotton Pickin'' 100 will be headlined by a $15,000-to-win/$1,000-to-start, 100-lap Super Late Model event. 

 

Billy Moyer, who is a three-time Southern Belle Cotton Pickin'' 100 Champion, last claimed the Southern Belle Cotton Pickin'' 100 title in 2009 and will be back to attempt a repeat performance in 2010.  

 

He will face a field of competitors with many of the nation''s best drivers, including former event champions Scott Bloomquist and Jason Cliburn and Brian Birkhofer, Jimmy Mars, Mike Marlar, Clint Smith, Ray Cook, Bub McCool, Chris Wall, Neil Baggett, Rick Rickman, Jack Sullivan, Dennis Erb Jr., Brian Rickman, Kyle Beard, Billy Moyer Jr., Chad Thrash, David Breazeale, Ronny Lee Hollingsworth, Dane Dacus, Jonathan Davenport, and many more top drivers. 

 

All super Late Models will be required to run eight-inch spoilers, and tires must punch a minimum hardness of 40 at all times. 

 

Crate Late Models will also be in action as they battle for $2,500-to-win/$150-to-start during the course of the event.  

 

The Street Stock division will be headlined by a $1,000-to-win/$75-to-start program. 

 

The Open Wheel Modified division will be in action Saturday night, and will battle for $700 to win, while the Mini Stock division will also contest a complete show Saturday night for $300 to win. 

 

Transponders and raceceivers will be required for the Super Late Model, Crate Late Model, and Street Stock divisions, and will be available for rental at the track. 

 

Preliminary action for the 7th Annual Southern Belle Cotton Pickin'' 100 will be tonight, as Super Late Models qualify and run heat races as they attempt to make the feature field.  

 

Crate Late Models will also qualify and run heat races. Street Stocks will also run their heats. 

 

B-Mains for all divisions will be contested Saturday night along with the 7th Annual Southern Belle Cotton Pickin'' 100 Championships.  

 

A complete program for the Open Wheel Modified division and the Mini Stock division will be held on Saturday night. 

 

From 5:15-5:45 p.m. kids are encouraged to wear their Halloween costumes as they will be allowed to trick or treat at the haulers in the pits.  

 

Racers please remember to bring candy for the kids. 

 

At noon Saturday, there will be a cookout at the track featuring southern fried fish, chicken, and all the trimmings.  

 

The cookout is open to racers and fans, and donations will be accepted to benefit the Alan East Racer''s Fund, which is a benevolent fund for racers, pit crews, and their families. 

 

In addition to the cookout, a silent auction will begin today and will end Saturday with door panels and other souvenirs on the auction block. All proceeds will go to the Alan East Racer''s Fund.
