Response to “Perishable things” a Nov. 3 letter to the editor:
Trophies, medals, and awards are certainly perishable things. Yet, they are a simple way of rewarding hard work, ability, and success. In competing, the goal is to succeed. Does one work so hard just to hope to fail? However, something that is eternal are soul-saving decisions made as a result of daily Bible classes and weekly chapel services at Victory Christian Academy. Can this be said of all schools? Salvation decisions, now that truly is non-perishable.
Before comments are put in print, perhaps a little research would be beneficial. Victory is a member of a conference in which other member schools are not “decidedly smaller.” Enrollment in these schools is equal to or larger then that of VCA. Several schools have fielded football teams, as long, and some longer, than VCA. Most have nicer and better equipped facilities, as well.
Football is insignificant in the big scope of life. Everyone has been made keenly aware of this with the untimely death of a special MSU athlete last week. However, being part of a team teaches valuable traits such as selflessness, perseverance, and discipline.
Please do not diminish the accomplishments and hard work of the fine, young men at VCA.
Eagles, your VCA family loves you and are very proud of you all!
