Area residents faced with fines in the Lowndes County Justice Court soon will have a “more flexible” way to pay, according to Lowndes County Administrator Ralph Billingsley.
Beginning within the next few weeks, the justice court will begin allowing those with fines to pay online with a credit or debit card.
The system will be installed by the N-Court company, and soon will be available to users on the company”s Web site, www.ncourt.com.
“This system will allow anyone with a fine in justice court to pay online with a credit card or a debit card,” Billingsley explained. “Obviously, people won”t have to pay that way, but it will be open and available to anyone once it gets set up.
“There is no expense to the county to set up this system,” Billingsley added. “It will just give people more flexibility when making payments to the court.”
Currently, the justice court accepts cash, money orders or cashier”s checks. Once the N-Court system is established at the justice court, county officials said they will consider using the payment system in other county offices, like the Lowndes County Chancery Clerk.
