As you may know, our school has been selling Y-ties to raise money for Jeffery Amos, a 5th grader at our school, who was recently diagnosed with cancer and is in St. Jude”s Hospital, fighting this terrible disease. Parents, students, faculty and staff at our school rallied in support and opened their hearts and billfolds to help. What started as a fundraiser to help bless Jeffery and his family has turned into a blessing for all of us. Through this fundraising effort, every student and teacher at Cook has been reminded of what this Christmas Season is all about: LOVE! The kids have rallied in this effort by selling Y-ties at their churches, at their parents” workplaces and even to their neighbors. No one asked them to do this. The children receive nothing for this extra effort, except that special feeling they get inside when they help someone.
After our story aired on WCBI and was printed in your newspaper, this loving and giving spirit flowed out into the community. People from our town and surrounding communities have stopped by our school to purchase Y-ties or just to give donations to Jeffery and his family. What a blessing. The Christmas Spirit is alive and well in our community.
Merry Christmas and God Bless You, Everyone!
