It''s their job to answer your questions about the concerns you might have about why one mascara is better than another or why you may need a makeup primer underneath your favorite foundation.
Don''t be shy! Hours upon hours have been spent at educational seminars and day-after-day at the counter engaging with customers just like you. So, ask those questions and you will be surprised at the wealth of information you walk away with -- and maybe even a marvelous lipstick.
Next, don''t hesitate to ask for a hands-on tutorial using the tips and tricks the beauty advisor has learned to demonstrate a smoky eye or a few anti-aging secrets. A makeup lesson is almost always complimentary, and you can opt to make an appointment or call ahead and ask about times when the store has less traffic. Typically, the best times are Mondays before or after noon to just walk up and get "made up."
A few more tips: Ask for prices, and open a dialogue about your makeup budget. Bring along your basics from home and build on what you already have. Always ask for samples!
Finally, share your contact information with the beauty advisors at all your favorite counters, and ask them to keep you in the loop when special promotions happen. Gift-with-purchase is a great way to add to your makeup bag, and those little introductory sizes are super for travel.
The main thing is building a relationship with that special beauty advisor for years of personalized attention. After all, making faces is our job and our passion, and we want yours to be beautiful.
