FULTON — The Itawamba Community College football team will kick off the 2011 season at 6:30 tonight at Hinds C.C.
“It”s going to be a tough challenge to open the season on the road against a team like Hinds,” ICC second-year coach Jon Williams said. “They are a very talented and well-coached football team that can put a lot of points on the board.”
The Eagles proved that last season in a 52-31 victory last season in Fulton.
“We learned a lot as a team and as coaches after our game with them last season,” Williams said. “I feel like the things we learned and were able to build off of from that game really helped us mature as a program and progressively get better as the season went along.”
WAFM 95.7 FM (Amory) will broadcast the game starting at 6:10 p.m. The game also can be heard on www.iccms.edu or www.fm95radio.com.
The Indians finished 5-4 and 4-2 in the MACJC North Division last season, while the Eagles were 5-4 and 2-4 in the MACJC South.
ICC will host two preseason nationally ranked programs this season. Next week, ICC will play host to No. 8 Pearl River C.C. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.
There also will be special pregame ceremonies honoring the 2010 women”s and men”s state champion tennis teams and the Bennie Abram L.E.G.A.C.Y award recipient.
