MSU, Ole Miss, Alabama baseball teams announce TV games

STARKVILLE -- A pair of ESPNU appearances at Dudy Noble Field are included in an eight-game slate of televised Mississippi State University baseball games for 2013. The TV lineup featuring four home games and four road matchups for MSU is part of the Southeastern Conference's extensive television announced Friday by the league office in Birmingham, Ala. 


MSU will open Super Bulldog Weekend 2013 with a nationally televised game against SEC West rival Auburn University at 6:30 p.m. April 18 as part of the SEC's Thursday Night Game of the Week on ESPNU. MSU will play host to the University of Alabama at 6 p.m. May 3 on ESPNU in a Friday night series-opener in Starkville. 


This season marks the fourth year of the Southeastern Conference's 15-year agreement with ESPN. More than 70 SEC baseball games will be televised by the league's broadcast partners ESPN, ESPN2, ESPNEWS, FOX Sports, and Comcast Sports Southeast. Many of those games will also be streamed line online on WatchESPN/ESPN3. Additional TV games negotiated by the league's schools not included in the SEC's television package could be added to the lineup of televised SEC games in the coming weeks. 


MSU will launch its spring TV schedule on SEC opening weekend March 16 with a 6 p.m. game against LSU on Comcast. MSU also will play host to Super Bulldog Weekend for Auburn at 6:30 p.m. Aug. 19 on CSS. 


MSU's four televised road games will be at the university of Kentucky at 11 a.m. March 23, at the University of Miss at 1 p.m. May 12 (FOX Sports) and at Texas A&M University at 12:30 p.m. April 13 and at Vanderbilt University at noon April 27 on Comcast. 


Ole Miss 


Rebels will be on television eight times 


n The University of Mississippi baseball team will be featured nine times on television this season, including three contests on ESPNU as a part of the SEC television package. 


Five of the nine television games for the No. 13 Rebels will be broadcast from Oxford-University Stadium this season. Ole Miss will be carried three times on ESPNU, three times on CSS, and three times on Fox Sports family of networks. 


As a result of the television schedule, some game times have been changed to accommodate the broadcast schedule. 


Ole Miss' three ESPNU games will be the Saturday home contest against Texas A&M (March 23 - 7:30 p.m.), the Thursday night Kentucky game (April 25 - 6:30 p.m.) and the Sunday game at Tennessee (April 21 - 1 p.m.). 


The three CSS broadcasts will be for the Saturday game at Florida (March 30 - Noon), the Sunday finale against Alabama (April 14 - 1 p.m.) and the Sunday series finale against Mississippi State (May 12 - 1 p.m.). 


Ole Miss will be on FSN twice this season, beginning with the Saturday series finale against Kentucky (April 27 - 2:15 p.m.) and the Saturday game at Auburn (May 4 - 2:15 p.m.). The Rebels will also be featured on Fox Sports Florida in the series finale when Ole Miss takes on the Gators (March 31 - Noon). 


The Rebels open the 2013 season on Friday, February 15 against the 14th-ranked TCU Horned Frogs. First pitch for the series opener is set for 4 p.m. at Oxford-University Stadium/Swayze Field. Season tickets are on sale now and can be purchased by contacting the Ole Miss Ticket Office at 662-915-7167. 




Crimson Tide will be on TV six times 


n The University of Alabama baseball team will make six television appearances this season. The Crimson Tide will appear twice on ESPNU, twice on Fox Sports Net (FSN), and twice on Comcast Sports South (CSS). 


The SEC broadcast package, which includes all 17 games for the 2013 SEC Baseball Tournament, will total more than 70 contests. The championship game of the tournament will air nationally on ESPN2, and for the first time the semifinals will also air nationally, on ESPNEWS. The package is derived from broadcasts on ESPN, ESPN2, ESPNU, ESPNEWS, Fox Sports, and CSS. In addition, WatchESPN/ESPN3 will also stream most contests live online. 


Alabama is slated to make its first television appearance on Saturday, March 30, for the series finale at Auburn and will be televised by CSS. First pitch for the game at Plainsman Park is scheduled for 3 p.m. The Tide will appear on CSS for the second time on Sunday, April 14, for the series finale at Mississippi at 1 p.m. 


ESPNU's Thursday Night SEC Baseball Game of the Week schedule will begin on March 28, and run eight weeks through May 16. Alabama will appear on the ESPNU Thursday Night SEC Baseball Game of the Week on April 4, when it hosts the Arkansas Razorbacks at 7 p.m. CT. UA will also appear on ESPNU on Friday, May 3, for the series opener at Mississippi State at 6 p.m. 


Alabama's two FSN appearances will be Saturday, April 20, against LSU at 7 p.m. and Saturday, May 11, against Missouri at 1 p.m.  


The Crimson Tide's season and home opener is set for Friday, Feb. 15, at 6:05 p.m., when Alabama hosts the VMI Keydets in the first game of a three-game series at Sewell-Thomas Stadium.  


n In related news, the Alabama baseball team will hold its Fan Day on Feb. 9. The event will consist of a kid's clinic, the annual Grand Slammers preseason barbecue and a team intrasquad. The kid's clinic will be held at the Hank Crisp Indoor Facility, the Grand Slammer barbeque will be at The Zone-North at Bryant-Denny Stadium and the team scrimmage will be held at Sewell-Thomas Stadium. 


The day begins with a free kid's clinic at the Hank Crisp Indoor Facility from 9-10:30 a.m. The clinic is open to children 12 years old and younger. The clinic will include hitting, pitching, fielding and base running instruction from the Crimson Tide coaching staff and players. 


The 30th annual Grand Slammers preseason barbecue will be held at The Zone at Bryant-Denny Stadium from 11:30 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. The cost is $10 for adults and $5 for children (12 and under). Tickets may be purchased in advance or at the door. 


The 2013 Crimson Tide players will be available to sign autographs and fourth-year head coach Mitch Gaspard will give a scouting report on the upcoming season. There will also be door prizes, complimentary baseball schedule cards and posters, and Alabama Grand Slammers merchandise for sale.  


The Alabama Grand Slammers are accepting 2013 membership renewals and membership applications. A membership is $100, which includes two complimentary tickets to the barbecue and other items.
