GREENWOOD -- Cade Lott parred the third playoff hole Tuesday to win medalist honors at the Mississippi Association of Independent Schools Class AAA North State meet at Greenwood County Club.
Pillow Academy carded a team score of 304 to take the title. Heritage Academy (316), Jackson Academy (317), and Magnolia Heights (318) rounded out the top four teams that qualified for the MAIS Overall State tournament on Monday at Hattiesburg Country Club. The four teams from the North will join Jackson Prep, Parklane Academy, Starkville Academy, and Presbyterian Christian, the four qualifying teams from the South.
Lott and Madison-Ridgeland Academy's Griffin Agent tied at 71 at the end of regulation, one stroke ahead of Pillow Academy's Steve Pannell. Lott and Agent parred the first playoff hole and bogeyed the second playoff hole before Lott parred the third hole to take the crown.
"I am very proud of Cade," Heritage Academy coach Ed Lott said. "He missed a 15-foot birdie putt on the last hole in regulation."
Lott also was pleased with his team's ability to achieve its goal to earn one of the top four spots. He knows the Patriots can play even better, which he hopes will be the case next week.
