STARKVILLE — Jason Ludwig has joined Ben Howland’s men’s basketball staff at Mississippi State as director of operations.
Ludwig spent the past two seasons in the same capacity at Arizona State.
Ludwig and Howland know each other well, as Ludwig spent 10 years at UCLA in various roles, including the director of scouting and player development positions he held from 2009-13.
“I’m very excited to be reunited with coach Howland, as well as with coach Zeigler and coach McCray, who I worked with previously,” Ludwig said. “Coach Howland is one of the best in the business and I feel blessed to have another opportunity to work with him. I’m eager to get started and begin this new chapter in my career.”
n Mullen will play in annual Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl Charity Golf Challenge: At Greensboro, Georgia, Mississippi State football coach Dan Mullen will team up with former Bulldog Fred McCrary to compete in the ninth annual Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl Challenge charity golf tournament on April 26-28 at the Reynolds Plantation resort on Lake Oconee outside Atlanta.
The Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl Challenge main event features 13 pairings that include a university head coach and a celebrity or former athlete from the same school competing in a scramble format against other university teams from around the country. The tournament will be broadcast on ESPNU in August and December.
The 13 university teams will be vying for the $125,000 first-place prize, with each team receiving a portion of the $520,000 purse. Charity payouts will be split equally between an endowed scholarship at each university and a charity of the coach’s choice.
Mullen and McCrary have combined to win more than $140,000 for charity at the event in the past. Last year, the two finished second out of 11 teams to claim $70,000 for charity with a 9-under par score.
