STARKVILLE — A day after unveiling its non-conference schedule, the Mississippi State women’s basketball team found out it will have 10 television appearances, including two ESPN2 games, as part of its Southeastern Conference slate released by the league office Thursday evening.
After closing the non-conference schedule Dec. 30 against South Florida in the SEC/AAC Challenge, MSU will return to the Sunshine State on Jan. 3, 2016, to begin league play at Florida on the SEC Network.
Vic Schaefer’s squad will begin league play at Florida. It will start the home conference slate Jan. 7 against Auburn in the first of two nights of whip-around coverage on the SEC Network. The second will be Feb. 25 when MSU travels to Vanderbilt.
New this season, the SEC Network will provide a live look-in to each game played those two days. The games will be shown in their entirety online on SEC Network +.
“The SEC is always a challenging schedule because every time you step on the court you are going against the best players in the country and Hall of Fame coaches,” Schaefer said. “I’m really proud our program will get national exposure on ESPN2 twice and the SEC Network eight times. It is a testament to the progress we have made here at Mississippi State.”
MSU will follow the Auburn game by playing host to Arkansas on Jan. 10 at Humphrey Coliseum.
Following a road trip to Missouri on Jan. 14, MSU will be the only show on the hardwood at 6 p.m. Monday, Jan. 18, against Ole Miss (SEC Network).
MSU will travel to Georgia on Jan. 21 before returning home for back-to-back home games against South Carolina (Jan. 24, ESPN2) and Tennessee (Jan. 28, SEC Network).
MSU will close the SEC slate with five of its final eight games on the road, starting with a Jan. 31 rematch at Arkansas. MSU will opens the final full month of the season at LSU (8 p.m. Feb. 4, SEC Network).
MSU will play host to a rematch with Missouri on Feb. 7 before playing a pair of 6 p.m. SEC Network games at Texas A&M (Feb. 11) and against Kentucky (Feb. 18, Humphrey Coliseum).
MSU will make its second ESPN2 appearance Feb. 21 at Ole Miss. Following the Feb. 25 game at Vanderbilt, MSU will wrap up the regular season Feb. 28 against Alabama at Humphrey Coliseum.
MSU will return to Jacksonville, Florida, on March 2-6 for the SEC tournament.
All non-televised home games will be broadcast online on SEC Network +.
MSU will open the 2015-16 campaign Nov. 13 against Samford in a doubleheader with the men’s squad.
