While the initial season at Nusz Park proved action-packed for the Mississippi State softball team, one final piece of business remains on the docket.
The National Pro Fastpitch league will play its first game on the MSU campus Friday night when Pennsylvania Rebellion takes on USSSA Pride.
Game time is set for 7 p.m. Advances tickets may be purchased online or bought at the stadium on game day. Admission is $10 for adults and $5 children 12 years old or younger.
“Our new home is just incredible and this is a great opportunity for Nusz Park to be seen by even more softball fans,” MSU coach Vann Stuedeman said.
National Pro Fastpitch is the only professional league for women’s softball in the United States. Started in 2004, the league has six teams. Each team will play 50 regular-season games through August.
Each year, the NPF plays a series of games on college campuses in an effort to spark more interest.
The contest at Nusz Park will be the first of nine NPF games played during the 2016 Campus Tour.
The Rebellion roster includes former Mississippi State shortstop Kayla Winkfield, who finished her Bulldog career in the Southeastern Conference tournament in May.
Gates open at 5 p.m., with both teams set to take batting practice on the field. An autograph session is set postgame.
