OXFORD — The Ole Miss, Alabama, and Southern Mississippi women’s basketball teams were selected Monday to participate in the postseason Women’s National Invitation Tournament.
Ole Miss will play host to Grambling State at 6 p.m. Thursday at The Pavilion at Ole Miss. Alabama will play host to Mercer at 7 p.m. Thursday at Coleman Coliseum. Southern Mississippi will play host to Little Rock at 9 p.m. Wednesday.
The winner of the game between Little Rock and Southern Miss will face the winner of the game between Mercer and Alabama.
Ole Miss (17-13) will make its 24th trip to the postseason, and the first in the WNIT since 2014-15.
Ole Miss enters the WNIT after a 67-59 loss to LSU in the second round Southeastern Conference tournament, while Grambling State, which is from the Southwestern Athletic Conference, is 18-14.
Alabama (19-13) is one of 33 teams that was awarded an at-large bid in the 64-team field.
Mercer (25-6) earned an automatic bid from the Southern Conference.
Southern Miss (23-10) earned an at-large bid to the tournament after it lost to Western Kentucky in the championship game of the Conference USA tournament.
Little Rock (24-8) won the Sun Belt Conference regular-season title with a 17-1 record, but it lost to Louisiana-Lafayette in the semifinals of the league tournament.
It earned an automatic bid because it won its conference’s regular-season crown.
All Southern Miss and William Carey students, with a valid student ID, will get in free of charge. Ticket prices will be $10 for adults and $5 for 17 and under. Tickets can be purchased online at SouthernMissTickets.com, or by calling the Athletic Ticket Office at 1-800-844-TICK (8425) as well as visiting the Pat Ferlise Ticket Center.
