STARKVILLE — Former Mississippi State wide receiver De’Runnya Wilson was arrested in Oktibbeha County on Wednesday for disorderly conduct, driving with a suspended license, driving without insurance, and possession of marijuana in the vehicle.
The arrest occurred on Locksley Way in Starkville.
Wilson was processed and released from Oktibbeha County Jail on a $2,140 bond. He is scheduled to appear in court Aug. 1.
A statement from the Oktibbeha County Sheriff’s Department said Wilson was stopped at 5:22 p.m. on outstanding warrants from an issue earlier in the week. On June 11, Wilson fled on foot from an encounter with law enforcement around 8 a.m. on BlackJack Road. The charge from that incident, disorderly conduct, is included in his current charges.
A MSU spokesperson said MSU football coach Dan Mullen wouldn’t comment on Wilson’s arrest. All of the charges are misdemeanors.
Wilson also arrested on a marijuana charge in Covington County, Alabama, in 2015. He also was arrested last September in Starkville for marijuana possession, obstructing justice, and possession of a schedule 2 controlled substance. The charges in the second case were later dropped.
Wilson left MSU after his junior season in 2015 and wasn’t selected in the 2016 NFL draft. He later signed to the practice squad with the Chicago Bears, but he is a free agent.
Wilson is sixth in MSU history in catches (133). He was fifth before Fred Ross passed him in the 2016 season. Wilson’s nine- and 10-touchdown seasons in 2014 and 2015 are in the top five in MSU history.
