CALEDONIA — Caledonia dropped the middle games of its Mississippi High School Activities Association (MHSAA) Class 4A playoff series, falling 4-3 to Kosciusko Saturday night.
Clark Dean pitched a complete game for the Whippets.
The teams play again at 7 p.m. Monday in Kosciusko to decide the first-round series.
Friday night, Caledonia took a 2-1 victory on the road.
Houston Mims had three hits to lead the Confederates, while Tony Brooks had two hits.
Cade Stacy allowed two hits in five innings of work to earn the win.
n In Class 5A action, West Point evened its first-round series with a 7-3 win over Germantown at Taylor Stadium in West Point.
Germantown opened the series with a 7-1 win Friday night.
These teams will play again at 6 Monday night to determine the winner.
n In prep softball action, both Caledonia and New Hope saw their seasons end with losses in Class 4A playoff action.
New Hope dropped 8-1 and 15-4 decisions to Pontotoc after winning the series opener at home Tuesday night.
Caledonia dropped a 10-0 decision at Tishomingo County.
