BATON ROUGE, La. — The No. 22 MSU football team’s offense sputtered in a fashion all to similar to its first two Southeastern Conference losses on Saturday night against No. 5 LSU.
Fifty-nine passing yards and a 2-for-14 third-down performance was too much to overcome in a 19-3 loss to No. 5 LSU.
MSU’s rushing attack averaged 5.4 yards per carry. Quarterback Nick Fitzgerald ran 23 times for 131 yards, but MSU ran six times for 20 yards on third down. It converted just 1 of 6 of those attempts.
MSU (4-3, 1-3 SEC) was 8-for-24 through the air with four interceptions. Two of the interceptions came on the final two possessions.
MSU’s defense helped the Bulldogs win the yardage battle by holding the Tigers to 239 yards.
